Torsional resonant studies are accomplished through the use of either a non-contacting strain gage telemetry system or a tachometer based system. Testing is ideal for monitoring motors, generators, gear trains and engines showing driveline defects as well as instantaneous fluctuations in mechanical power.

Data is presented in a strip chart recording of the analog of torque or an FFT of the torsional signal.
